Learning Objectives

After studying the material in Chapter 10, you should be able to:

  1. Discuss the logic behind, and demonstrate the techniques for, using sample data to test hypotheses and develop interval estimates about the difference between two population means for independent samples.
  2. Develop confidence interval estimates and conduct hypothesis tests for the difference between two population means for paired samples.
  3. Carry out hypothesis tests and establish interval estimates, using sample data, for the difference between two population proportions.
