(Z)-Hex-2-ene (cis-2-Hexene) C6H12

Section 9-9b. Catalytic partial reduction of alkynes. Lindlar's catalyst.

Adding two hydrogen atoms to the same side of an acetylene triple bond (syn addition) leads to the cis-alkene. This can be carried out in practice by using a partially deactivated metal catalyst (such as Lindlar's catalyst.)
