An inductive argument, as Nancy Wood reminds us, "provides a number of examples and draws a claim, in the form of a conclusion, from them." Wood goes on to note that "[i]nductive argument is also called argument from generalization or argument from example because the claim is a generalization made on the basis of the examples" (198-199). In "The Mystery of Attraction," Hendrix employs inductive reasoningspending the majority of his essay exploring examples of why people are attracted to one another and concluding with his claim, or thesis, in the final paragraph.
