Adler has been a senior editor and swing writer for Newsweek magazine since 1993, writing on a wide range of topics including political correctness, Americas infatuation with self-esteem, and the mens movement. In 1970, he received a B.A. in American history from Yale University and immediately joined the staff of The Journal of Commerce, where he worked from 1970-1972. Before joining the staff at Newsweek, Adler also worked as a reporter for the New York Daily News (1972-1979). During his long and productive career in journalism, Adler has been the recipient of a number of major awards, including: the 1982 Northwest Regional Writing Award for a story on "The Riddles of Saturn"; the 1987 Sidney Hillman Award for a cover story on his personal experience as a father of a child with a birth defect; and the 1988 New York Bar Association First Prize for a cover Story on the Constitution.
