A pastoral counselor, Hendrix has devoted more than 35 years to the study of intimate partnerships and marriage. He earned a theology degree from the Theological Seminary in New York and earned both an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Religion and Psychology from the Divinity School at the University of Chicago. Throughout his long and distinguished career, Hendrix has taught at the Perkins School of Theology (at Southern Methodist University), has received the Outstanding Pastoral Counselor of the Year Award (in 1995), and has appeared on "Oprah" (for which he won the "most socially redemptive" daily talk show award).
