. online Japanese Gardens site of Professor Clifton Olds of Bowdoin College
and visit that portion devoted to the Ryoan-ji. Use the site's computer-generated "speculations" on the original appearance of the garden. Compare what one sees today with the suggestion of what one would have seen originally. Which do you prefer? Why?
