The discussion in this chapter focuses on the continuing (and increasing) significance of religion and ethnicity in the United States. Issues of Whiteness and White ethnics are examined as well as the interconnectedness of race, ethnicity, religion and class. Furthermore, this chapter explores the issue of life chances and how all of these factors alter one’s ability to assimilate and thus succeed with regard to dominant cultural standards.
