Writing a Research Proposal
Tips for Success

1. Read a few research articles, and try to pick out information in the introduction and methods sections that would be included in the research proposal that the author(s) may have written.

2. Review pages 24-33, focusing on variables and hypotheses.

3. Without using the text, summarize the questions that you should ask when evaluating each of the following sections of a research study:

a. Review of previous research
b. Problem and purpose
c. Hypothesis
d. Method
e. Sample
f. Results and discussion
g. References
h. General comments about the report

4. Quickly preview chapter 14, and try to describe how and why chapters 13 & 14 differ.
