Objectives

After studying this chapter, you should be able to:

  1. Describe the critical elements of a research proposal.
  2. Critically evaluate a research article.
  3. Plan an effective strategy for researching, designing, and conducting a research study.
  4. Choose and/or define a dependent variable appropriate to your research question.
  5. Find and evaluate tests that are designed for specific purposes.
  6. Determine how and where you will find your sample, and describe some of the factors that will influence your choice of a sample.
  7. Write an effective research proposal.
