The son of an engineer and a nurse, John V. Young was born January 25, 1909, in Oakland California. He attended San Jose State Teachers College (now State University) from 1927-1929. From 1929-1941, he worked as a report and editor for different newspapers in rural California. He then worked in public relations for an electronics firm as well as for the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. From 1966, he was a free-lance writer. His publications include: The Grand Canyon, 1969; Ghost Towns of the Santa Cruz Mountains, 1979 and 1984; State Parks of New Mexico, 1984; State Parks of Arizona, 1986; and Kokopelli Cassanova of the Cliff Dwellers : The Hunchbacked Flute Player,1990. Additionally, Young was the author of The Enchanted Chiricahuas, a serial publication for the journal Tombstone Epitaph. He has published articles and photographs with the New York Times, Travel, Better Camping, and Trailer Travel. Web Destinations
