Deborah Sullivan, the author of Cosmetic Surgery: The Cutting Edge of Commercial Medicine in America, teaches Sociology at Arizona State University. She is also the co-author of Labor Pains: Modern Midwives and Home Birth. Her work also appears in numerous journal publications such as Research in the Sociology of Healthcare, Sociological Perspectives, Sociology of Health and Illness, Journal of Community Health, and many more. Sullivan has presented her papers at a wide range of conferences including the Pacific Sociological Association, Humanist Society of Greater Phoenix, American Sociological Association, etc.
