First describe the state of imperial expansion in Africa as it existed in 1880. Identify the imperial powers that were present and the extent to which they penetrated the continent. Then provide an explanation of the transformation of Africa caused by imperialism by 1914. To what extent had imperialism in Africa changed since 1880? What other powers took part in occupying Africa? Describe how the territories are divided up between imperialist powers.
