Conclusion

The abstract theories of republicanism were made concrete in the wave of constitution making following the Revolutionary War. America developed a unique new form of government and showed the rest of the world how common citizens could create a successful government. This new government was the product of a two-step procedure: the Articles of Confederation followed by the U.S. Constitution. These documents are based on foundations Americans had laid down in their states: consent of the governed and compromise.
