Conclusion

By the eighteenth century America was a mosaic of European, Native American and African American peoples and communities. They adapted to the new conditions, but not without conflict. Native Americans struggled to preserve autonomy, millions of African slaves suffered under a repressive labor system and millions of European immigrants took a chance that America might offer them opportunities they lacked at home.
