Judith Ortiz Cofer

Born (1952) in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico, Judith Ortiz Cofer received her B.A. in 1974 at Augusta College and her M.A. in 1977 from Florida Atlantic University. Since 1974, she has been a teacher at the high school and college levels. Currently, she is a professor of English and creative writing at the University of Georgia at Athens. Her books include Silent Dancing: A Partial Remembrance of a Puerto Rican Childhood, The Year of Our Revolution: Selected and New Stories and Poems, and The Latin Deli.
