Judicial Review and the "Guardians of the Constitution"

Even though Alexander Hamilton envisioned the power of judges, few in 1789 would have imagined the power of the federal courts today. In Marbury v Madison the Court asserted the power of judicial review. Since that time, the Court has been an equal and powerful branch of the government.
