- Before beginning Chapter 3, be sure you have mastered the material in Chapter 1 on the shapes of distributions and the material in Chapter 2 on the mean and standard deviation.
- Remember that negative Z scores are below the mean and positive Z scores are scores above the mean.
- Notice that when using Table 3-1: Normal Curve Areas, that the table repeats the basic three columns twice on the page. Be sure to look across to the appropriate column you need.
- To change a proportion into a percentage, multiply by 100. So, a proportion of .13 is equivalent to .13*100 = 13%. To change a percentage into a proportion, divide by 100. So, 3% is a proportion of 3/100 = .03.
