  • Describe what is meant by the climate system.

  • List and explain the methods used to detect climate change.

  • Summarize the four natural mechanisms of climate change that are unrelated to human activities.

  • Discuss the greenhouse effect of the atmosphere and how the addition of carbon dioxide, trace gases, and aerosols to the atmosphere from industrialization, agriculture, and other human activities has modified global temperature.

  • Describe the role of positive and negative climate-feedback mechanisms.

  • List and summarize several possible consequences of greenhouse warming.
