However, the following list contains links to many of the most interesting and informative Web sites related to topics explored in the chapter that we were able to locate. Check them out, but make sure you come back to do more investigating when you're done.


Atmosphere Calculators
This site provides links to several online programs to calculate relative humidity, dew point, etc.
California Regional Weather Server
This is an excellent site for satellite images, weather radar, jet stream information, regional weather maps, etc.
Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies
The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) is a cooperative institute formed through a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

An excellent source for current weather data, including printable maps.

The University of Illinois Department of Atmospheric Sciences home page features a variety of weather-related information.

This site provides current United States surface dew point temperatures.

This site is from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), Boulder, CO.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
Here is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration home page.
National Weather Service (NWS)
Here is perhaps the largest collection of weather data in the world.

This is an excellent Web site for current weather, tutorials, satellite images, and weather-related links.
Precipitation Map, Current U.S.
This site has a current radar map of the United States, showing areas of precipitation.

This site is a premier source of weather information, providing access to numerous forecasts, images, and the Net's largest collection of weather links.
Water Vapor in the Climate System (American Geophysical Union)
Here is a good, detailed 1995 special report on the role of water vapor in Earth's climate system.
Weather Channel
This is the Weather Channel home page for forecasts and other weather-related information.
Weather Data and Imagery, Current (American Meteorological Society)
An excellent source for current surface, satellite, upper air, and forecast information from the American Meteorological Society (AMS).
Weather Underground
This site contains an excellent, comprehensive source of weather information.
