|
Biologists analyze the interactions between neurons and hormones to understand the proximate causes of behavior. Bird songs are an example of a behavior that has been extensively studied, and whose proximate causes are relatively well understood. In this activity, youll explore how scientists uncovered the neurological and hormonal causes of bird songs. Birdsong is associated with mating activity, and is therefore a seasonal activity. Behavioral biologists hypothesized that changes in hormone production and brain function were somehow associated with the seasonal production of song.
