Chapter 7: Activities

Activity 7.1 Photosynthesis

CDA7_1.jpg The energy that powers the biosphere comes from the Sun. Through the reactions of photosynthesis, plants and some other types of organisms convert the Sun's radiant energy into useful energy for living systems. Photosynthesis also evolves oxygen, which animals, plants, and many other organisms use for cellular respiration. In this activity, you'll explore the details of photosynthesis— how a plant cell converts light energy into the chemical energy of sugars.
