Objectives
After studying this chapter, you should
  1. be able to describe the rotational motion of a rigid body in terms of its angular velocity and angular acceleration vectors.
  2. be able to calculate the rotational inertia of discreet and continuous distributions of matter.
  3. be able to calculate the rotational kinetic energy of bodies in pure rotation and rolling objects.
  4. be able to determine the torque about a particular axis due to the action of a force.
  5. be able to apply Newton’s second law for rotation for the analysis of rotational motion.
  6. be able to understand the concept of angular momentum.
