Galaxy Formation and Interaction
This 2.2-Mbyte Quicktime animation, also available in MPEG format, depicts the result of extensive supercomputer modeling of gravitational interactions of the hypothesized dark matter thought by astrophysicists to be a major, yet so far unobserved, component of the composition of the universe. In this model, galaxy formation begins shortly after the Big Bang. With each collision between clumps, the objects grow bigger, until we see galaxies like today's. Note that the colors do not represent actual colors of physical objects.
