This website provides additional information for users of Language Arts: Content and Teaching Strategies, sixth edition by Gail E. Tompkins. To further enrich their learning and instruction, users will find a Dear Reader section written by Gail Tompkins, chapter Overviews and Objectives, and multiple choice and essay Self-Assessment items with which to test their knowledge of chapter content. Extension and Meeting the Needs activities provide students with different resources to extend their understanding, as well as practice theories and ideas in the classroom. Minilessons also illustrate ideas that work in the classroom for teachers of language arts. Internet Activities offer users suggestions and avenues for further developing their comprehension and application of chapter themes, and Web Destinations provide them with additional research and discovery opportunities. CD ROM Activities for the book’s accompanying CD are provided to help integrate the CD user experience. A list of pertinent Standards is also provided.

In addition, users will find a Seeing Common Threads message board that includes discussion starters. This feature allows users to communicate with other students and professors nationwide about pertinent topics and issues. Finally, for professors, there is a Syllabus Manager feature that allows them to create and modify an online syllabus for their courses.
