Harp's 1996 article "The History Wars" described the conflict that resulted when some historians proposed altering the "traditional" treatments of American and world history to include emphasis on multicultural influences. He said, "While some are still fighting hard for a set, traditional curriculum—with standards to match—technology has opened the history classroom door to a dizzying array of data, artifacts, and perspectives. Helping teachers to make sense of it all is more than half the battle." What role has technology played in causing "the history wars"? What needs to be done to help teachers make sense of it all?
