Chapter Objectives

After reading this chapter and completing the learning activities for it, you should be able to:

  1. Use correct terminology to identify features and capabilities of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software tool programs.
  2. Identify productivity applications for software tools that educators would find valuable to make their work more efficient and productive.
  3. Describe specific kinds of teaching and learning tasks for both teachers and students that each kind of tool can support.
  4. Develop instructional activities that integrate the functions and capabilities of the software tools.
