Chapter Objectives

After reading this chapter and completing the learning activities for it, you should be able to:

  1. Match directed and constructivist integration strategies with their learning theory foundations.
  2. Identify technology integration strategies as directed, constructivist, or combinations of these.
  3. Describe the five phases of the Technology Integration Planning (TIP) Model.
  4. Match descriptions of instructional problems with technology-based solutions that have the potential for high relative advantage to teachers and students.
  5. Create outcome objectives and assessment plans for technology integration strategies.
  6. For a given technology integration strategy, create an instructional plan that is pedagogically sound and addresses equity and classroom implementation needs.
  7. For a given technology integration plan, create a logistical plan that addresses ethical, legal, equipment, scheduling, and technical issues.
  8. Develop a plan to evaluate the impact of a given technology integration strategy.
  9. Describe essential conditions to support effective classroom integration of technology.
  10. Use the five-phase TIP Model to develop a sample classroom technology integration strategy.
