Six Types of Parent/Family Involvement

As you think about your role in involving parents and families, it is helpful to review the six types of involvement. Re-read the Program in Action "Six Types of Parent/Family Involvement." A worthy professional goal would be to have some of your parents involved in all six of these types of parental involvement.

Go to the National Network of Partnership Schools website. In each of the sections that define the types of parental involvement—Parenting, Communicating, Volunteering, Learning at Home, Decision Making, and Collaborating with the Community—you will find a link to examples of how teachers have implemented each type of involvement. This link can be found by scrolling down to the bottom of each of the section pages.
