"No More Social Promotion"

Maria's school district has implemented a new policy that all kindergarten students must pass a first-grade readiness test before they can be promoted to first grade. Two of Maria's children did not have a passing score on the test. She believes the school district's policy is unfair because it bases promotion on the results of one test score. In addition, she thinks the children who did not pass the readiness test will do well in first grade.
