Diversity Tie-In

Young English Language Learners

Increasingly, young children in the United States speak a language other than English in the home. Research has consistently shown that most young children are not only capable of learning two languages, but also enjoy cognitive, cultural, and economic advantages as a result of being bilingual. Teachers need to help maintain a child's home language.

Visit the Colorín Colorado website to view a series of short video clips about bilingual education (you will need a current version of Windows Media Player to view the clips).
