This site provides students using Fundamentals of Early Childhood Education (5th edition) by George S. Morrison with a wealth of resources. Eleven modules provide additional resources and activities for each of the 13 textbook chapters. The site highlights early childhood programs, professionalism, diversity strategies, technology issues, building classroom competencies, and ethical decision making. These focal points reflect the text’s emphasis on the student’s developing professional knowledge.
Students can review chapter themes by viewing Focus Questions for each chapter and assess their understanding of important chapter concepts by answering Multiple Choice questions and Essay questions. Each interactive test item provides hints and immediate feedback along with the correct answer. Percentage scores are also supplied with the Multiple Choice items. Each chapter features a variety of Web Links organized by topic to encourage further exploration.
The Projects: Professionalism in Action activity in each chapter offers students a chance to develop their own Professional Development Notebooks by doing Web research, collecting articles, and applying their growing understanding of young children. Chapter-by-chapter PowerPoint lecture notes are available to download and print in the Enrichment Content module, along with each chapter’s Glossary terms. Four Journal activities in each chapter allow the student to make personal connections to and reflect on topics and issues raised in the text.
- Journal:Diversity Tie-In encourages students to think critically about ensuring all children’s success in the classroom;
- Journal:Program in Action asks students formulate opinions about programs being used in early childhood education today;
- Journal:Technology Tie-In explores the developmentally appropriate use of technology in early childhood programs; and lastly,
- Journal: Ethical Dilemmas reproduces this new text feature online, allowing students to submit their responses to instructors or peers.
