The Problem: The Heart of the Research Process
Overview

This chapter introduces the general procedures of how to find a research topic and how to put together a comprehensive statement of the research problem. The authors suggest ways for finding a research topic, writing the research problem, dividing the research problem into subproblems, editing the writing, stating the hypotheses, limiting the research to a manageable problem, stating the underlying assumptions of the research, and writing a research proposal. Presented also is a critiqued example of an actual research proposal.
