Choose one of the age groups within early childhood and observe for creative behavior. Reflect on what you see and hear and apply the appropriate strategies.

Go to MyEducationLab and select the topic "Curriculum/Program Models," then watch the videos "Montessori" and "High/Scope" and look for specific examples of creative behavior in play, in music, and in art.

Reflect
Think about and respond to the following questions:
What creative behaviors did you observe and how were these behaviors responded to by other children and adults?
What criteria did you use to determine the creative elements of the musical experiences you observed?
Were the creative art experiences you observed limited to a small number of children or did most engage in creative expression through art?
Reflect on the Video
Compare and contrast the creative behaviors of children in the Montessori classroom compared to the children in the High Scope classroom.

Provide open-ended materials for play.
Reinforce children's creative art expressions.
