Chapter 14 |
|
In Chapter 11, you learned about projects and how they can captivate the interests of young children and lead to quality integrated learning experiences. Children can learn mathematics, science, social studies, literacy skills, and more as they engage in topics that are of interest to them. When you begin your work with young children, you will need to be prepared to engage young children in this important approach to learning.
Assume, for the purpose of this exploration, that you are a teacher of young children and that during a recent group discussion the topic of pancakes came up. Several children described the different types of pancakes they eat and enjoy at home. Because of their apparent interest in this topic, you decide to engage the group in a project on pancakes.
