After completing this chapter, you will be able to:
  1. Identify the difference between a series and a parallel RLC circuit.
  2. Explain the following as they relate to series RLC circuits:
    1. Impedance
    2. Current
    3. Voltage
    4. Phase angle
    5. Power
  3. Explain the following as they relate to parallel RLC circuits:
    1. Voltage
    2. Current
    3. Impedance
    4. Phase angle
    5. Power
  4. Define resonance, and explain the characteristics of:
    1. Series resonance
    2. Parallel resonance
  5. Identify and explain the following RLC circuit applications:
    1. Low-pass filter
    2. High-pass filter
    3. Bandpass filter
    4. Band-stop filter
  6. Describe complex numbers in both rectangular and polar form.
  7. Perform complex number arithmetic.
  8. Describe how complex numbers apply to ac circuits containing series-parallel RLC components.
