Experimental Design
http://www.socialresearchmethods.net/kb/desexper.htm
This is the experimental design section of William Trochim's Research Methods Knowledge Base. It provides a host of information such as an introduction to experimental design, discussions of internal and external validity, and links to examples of two group designs, factorial designs, and covariance designs. There are additional links to additional information relevant to experimental designs, but most of it is not discussed in the Gay, Airasian, and Mills text. Information on the most current version of Trochim's web site or a printed copy of the text can be found at http://www.atomicdog.com/trochim. Information is also available on the use of this version of the site at http://www.socialresearchmethods.net/kb/.

Proven Methods – Doing What Works
http://www.ed.gov/nclb/methods/whatworks/edpicks.jhtml
This is a part of the U.S. Department of Education's web site on No Child Left Behind. This page references several resources, all of which are related to the use of "scientifically rigorous" means to determine which educational programs are effective. To be considered "scientifically rigorous" an experimental research design must be used. This reflects the first time educational policy has stipulated the use of such designs.

The Basics of Experimental Design (A Quick and Non-Technical Guide)

This non-technical guide discusses many terms and definitions related to experimental designs.

Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC)
http://www.eric.ed.gov/
ERIC has made available in full text versions all of the ERIC Digests written between 1980 and 1992. There is one of particular interest entitled True and Quasi-Experimental Designs written by Gribbons and Herman. You can get to it by conducting an advanced search using the title or the authors' names and stipulating ERIC Digests in full text. This digest is an excellent resource that discusses limitations of these designs, recommendations for evaluation, and additional resources.
