Dr. Kirby has been developing a data set with a number of variables related to students' achievement. She has information on parents' education level, students' socio-economic status, school size, class size, number of books in the library, teachers' years of experience, teachers' degrees, etc. In total she has about 35 variables in addition to students' scores on a standardized achievement test. Why would you advise her against using a "shotgun" approach to analyzing the data? Present arguments for advising her to analyze the data using a relationship study and a prediction study.
