Buros Institute of Mental Measurements
http://www.unl.edu/buros/bimm/index.html
This is the home page for the Buros Institute of Mental Measurements (BIMM). This is a commercial site, although there is a section called Test Reviews Online that provides some free information. If you want to access BIMM you can do so easily from the library at your university. Most subscribe to services such as EBSCO that allow access to this database.
ETS Test Collection
http://www.ets.org/testcoll/
This site provides access to the ETS Test Collection, an index of published and unpublished tests. Citations include the test title, author, publication date, target population, publisher, and a description of the purpose of the test. There are annotated bibliographies for achievement, aptitude, attitudes and interests, personality, sensory motor, special populations, vocational/occupational, and miscellaneous tests.
Measurement
http://www.socialresearchmethods.net/kb/measure.htm
This is the measurement section of William Trochim's Research Methods Knowledge Base. Six issues are discussed; four of these are discussed in this chapter. They are levels of measurement, reliability, scaling (i.e., Likert, Thurstone, and Guttman), and survey development (e.g., types of questions, decisions about question content, decisions about question wording, etc.). Each of these sections provides a short discussion of the topic that should help beginning students understand it more completely. Information on the most current version of this web site or a printed copy of the text can be found at http://www.atomicdog.com/trochim. Information is also available on the use of this version of the site at http://www.socialresearchmethods.net/kb/.
