Mr. Lee Hsu, age 63, was born in America, although his parents were born in China. He learned a lot about complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) from his mother. He has used meditation, acupuncture and yoga, as well as herbal products such as Ma Huang (Ephedra), ginger, and gingko. Mr. Hsu sees a physician for his annual checkup and is diagnosed with an enlarged prostate gland for which Finasteride (Proscar) is prescribed. He is also found to have elevated blood pressure and is placed on an antihypertensive. The nurse prepares to educate Mr. Hsu about his prescriptions and to answer his questions.
