Word Processors
Being able to use a word processing program has become a necessity in the office, at school, and sometimes even at home. Although Microsoft Word is a very popular word processing program, other viable options to Word are available, including free programs that you can download from the Internet.
Use the Internet to research the features and prices (if applicable) of at least four word processing programs, including Microsoft Word. Create a grid that compares the functionality of the applications. Be sure to check to see whether documents you create in one application can be opened in another application. For example, if you create a document in FlyWord (a free word processing program), can you transfer and open the file in Word? Write a summary paragraph that states whether you think each word processing program is a viable alternative to Microsoft Word.
